Description
I purchased a number of these wonderfulhand woven
Belts on a recent trip to
S
an Andres Larrainzar in the highlands of Chiapas
Mexico
. This belt is a lovely
color combination of Peach and Black with spots of other colors...
This belt was made on a back strap loom by
Tzotzil
Mayan Women
and woven in the same manner as their ancestors have for hundreds of years.
The designs are not embroidered but woven in while the belt is created. It will fit everyone
depending on how many times you wrap it around your waist.
The belt measures 4 inches wide and the woven section is 57 inches long, not including the ties.... the braided ties add an additional 25 inches on each end.
Belts like this do not turn up often, so don't miss the opportunity to purchase this wonderful piece of Folk Art!!
