    Description

    These rattles were in an old cigar box I found at an estate sale. Prairie Rattlers are the most common type here in NE Colorado, so I’m assuming a midcentury farmer or hunter happened upon the owners of these rattles. Although these snakes now have some legal protections and restrictions on harvesting them, it was once common to hunt them in the early Autumn. In fact, my parents were snake hunting in September 1961. The next day, I was born.
    Because of their age, they are dry and somewhat fragile. Please view photos to see imperfections.
